The secret is simple. Plant your plants in repeating patterns-It draws the eye along the border. Plant colors that compliment each other-choose brights or pastels and stick with a cohesive look. Plant plants with different foliage textures along the border for interest when blooms are spent-smooth leaves, silver fluffy leaves, grass-like leaves. I never knew what to plant to make my garden look like the pretty gardens I saw in magazines!! I just decided to plant what I like and guess what? It worked! If you like something, plant it! My advice would be to plant more than one, however. To have a cohesive look, plant in repeating patterns down a border. At least three of each plant.
