2.5T is just as reliable as any other modern turbo engine from any other mass market OEM. I see you’re asking in the comments how someone’s CX-5 handles over bumps. A CX-5 is not a CX-50 and their suspensions hand a lot differently from one another. Go drive one and see how you like it. Reddit can’t solve everything for you.

Sep 11, 2022 · I am big fan of the MX 5 but it won't be practical for me at the moment - single dad and can't imagine how it would be to drop my 8 yo daughter at school in a two seater. Maybe in the future as a second car. I settled on the Mazda 2 basically because of the looks of Mazda's and the naturally aspirated 1.5 petrol engine - less parts, more reliable.

Jul 23, 2023 · I had a 2011 2.2 I bough it at 135,000 miles I had run up maybe 20k miles and I was on the interstate and the oil pressure light came on. Needless to say I stopped and turned off engine. My mechanic told me the oil was blocked and this is a fault with the pre 2015 2.2 Mazda engines. He fixed it and I got rid of it the following month.

The turbo doesn't do any "harm" to the engine ever The boost provided by the Skyactiv turbo is certainly not "minimal" - maximum boost from the factory is 17.4 psi, or 1.2 bar.
