2023年12月5日 · The Mamluks are said to have defeated the Mongols in open battle many times. In Battle of Homs #2, the Mongols were led by Möngke Temür (son of Hulagu) himself. He had 50,000 men, with the Mamluk army being a mere 30,000. His army was basically annihilated. Möngke Temür himself, heavily injured, barely escaped with his life.

2010年7月23日 · Mongols did have a lot better unit cohesion and tactical command, though, which is much in their favor. I'd say that in the end, it comes down to terrain, numbers, force composition and command on both sides. Just because the Mongols managed to score great victories historically doesn't mean that they would have been unstoppable.
