2020年5月3日 · I see the other answers are about how anime sexualize women, or how people who watch anime are dorks/immature but, in my opinion and online experience, people who use anime characters as profile pics on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and to a lesser degree Instagram, are usually fake/troll accounts, that posts or comments hot takes just for the lulz.

The characters in anime are actually cool and likeable, so we have a reason to make them our pfp. Nobody is setting their pfp to Superman or Batman, yet way more people are obsessed with superheroes, Marvel, and DC.

The thing that I find off-setting about people who use anime profile pics is that - from my experience - they tend to have a problem of some sort. Some of them have some strange fetish. Others openly claim they are suicidal/depressed and use anime as an escape. Some are desperate virgins. And some are WAY too obsessed with anime.
