2025年1月27日 · 4 or 6lb fireline on all but two my ice fishing rods. I keep a spoon rod with 4lb mono and a spinning combo with 6lb mono for fishing outside the shanty on cold days. Don’t think I’ve ever broke off a walleye even with the 4lb fireline.

2023年6月7日 · Agree with the post above, spend your money on reels. For Erie walleye you are fine with Daiwa Wilderness rods. Would much rather have a Daiwa Saltist reel on a $20 rod than an Okuma Magda on a $100 rod any day for trolling. Me personally I have Ugly Stik GX2 7’ med action that I use for trolling. They are a bit on the stiff side.

We took a one ounce jig with line and tested the Rods there to make sure they are the same. Touching the floor making sure you feel it hitting. You can feel when your Stinger is messed up or Minnow is gone with them.

2005年1月13日 · For the walleye/salmon board rods I use my SG27LC reels lined with 30# Power Pro (8 lb test diameter), on a 8' 6" medium graphite rod. I think they are the Gander Mountain Competitor graphites, foam handles, graphite reel seat. For the walleye/salmon leadcore rods I use 30# power Pro backing, or 20# green Maxima, with 2-10 colors of 27# leadcore.

2023年9月12日 · Been looking at Frostbites rods, kinda inbetween the Drench and the Digger rod. Seems like Drench maybe better rod to do it all. Any advice on other rod makers to look for, or Rod rating I should be looking at for the do all kind needs. Seems like ML probably the best bet. Mostly will be using it for Steelhead in the harbors, and Walleye in Lk.

2002年11月20日 · You can get these at Gander Mt.... I like my rods about 24-28 inches..this seems to give you plenty of room in the shantie for setting the hook!... I also have a small spinning reel tapped on! that way you can have the drag to use on bigger fish!! Landed a 12lb. pike while walleye fishing on houghton lake on 8 lb, test! Love the Trilene XT!!!
