The majority of Town Departments are located on the Town Hall campus which includes two administrative buildings - Old Town Hall and Sullivan Independence Hall, located at 611 and 725 Old Post Road respectively.

The Town of Fairfield's Zoning Regulations were originally adopted by the Town Plan and Zoning Commission on August 26, 1925. They have been amended many times since then.

The Town Clerk is the State’s agent for permits and certificates, and the Registrar of Vital Statistics. On an annual basis, the office issues, records and maintains liquor permits, notary public certificates , hunting and fishing licenses , Trade Name certificates , birth , marriage and death certificates, burial permits, and dog licenses .
