FB motor valve train design | Subaru Outback Forums
2015年5月31日 · The engine uses variable valve timing which is hydraulically-actuated. A following post ( ('09-'13) Tapping noise on new 2011 Forester engine - Page 7 - Subaru Forester Owners Forum) has excerpts from a related SCI TSB and there's mention of the pivots hitting the cam shaft, but not of them being hydraulic, or lash adjusters. (Interesting.
Complete engine reseal of FB Outback engine - Subaru Outback …
2023年3月3日 · There is a upper oil pan part which was redesigned, and the new part was installed (had wider flanges). SOA gave me $1,000 to help offset the costs. Apparently this is quite common with the FB engines. Someone who works at Subaru said he thought there may be a class action law suit in the works. I am wondering if Subaru will ever make this a ...

2013 - worth it to replace engine? | Subaru Outback Forums
2020年1月23日 · The FB engine is a good engine with limited issues. Mostly minor things pop up like battery, coolant hoses, corrosion on the cables depending on the environment the car was in, the CVT valve body, but if your at 170k then the CVT issue has been fixed prior or whatever your doing is keeping it happy, so keep doing it.

2024年10月24日 · Impreza FB engines are DI. So you need a 14-18 FB from a Legacy or Outback, or 14-17 FB from a Forester. You may want to check in any records for an engine if the car got a new block under the oil consumption issue. FB25 reliability - Subaru Outback Forums
2024年9月30日 · In the scheme of things, it's a pretty reliable platform. Does it have issues? Yes. But if you compare this forum to another forum of a different manufacturer, you will see that this engine is much better than most. It has a couple of known problems - like the aforementioned TCV - but nothing too egregious.
EJ vs FB engine in the Outback (aka, which model year to aim for)
2023年2月10日 · Based on some initial research (including this sub - thanks!) I want to avoid 2010 for the old head gasket issue. Also looks like 2013 is when the outback switched engine types. Are there strong opinions on a late gen EJ versus an early days FB engine? Looking for pure reliability - couldn't care less about a sporty feel/performance.
FB25D engine disappointing | Subaru Outback Forums
2019年9月23日 · Reserved a spot at local Florida dealer Saturday to test drive Limited Outback with 2.5L engine. Disappointed and surprised the car was sluggish compared to my current frisky 2015 4 cyl Outback. The 2020 couldn't seem to get out of its own way. Many seconds to enter interstate 55 mph, feeling vulnerable. Road noise in the cabin.
5th Gen Outback 2.5 -liter FB25 engine. Is it DI? - Subaru Outback …
2021年6月15日 · I am trying to find more information on 2.5-liter FB25 engine in my 2017 Outback. I know that Subaru was planning to switch all engines to direct injection, and newer FB25D variants use direct injection. However, I am fairly certain that FB25 in my 2017 Outback is still port-injected.
2016 FB25 Valve shim adjusting | Subaru Outback Forums
2024年12月8日 · When I did the valves on our old Odyssey, the intakes were all loose and the exhausts were tight (no need for shims on that engine - it has adjustable rockers) - the valve shims can be bought from Subaru, which is probably your best bet - need to remove the old one, measure it, then use however far out it is to determine what is needed as a replacement.
