The SlowExposures Juried Main Exhibit is the centerpiece of the each year’s event. Exhibited in the historic R. F. Since 2003, fine art photographers and photography lovers from across the United States gather in Pike County, Georgia, during September for Slow Exposures. It’s the annual juried exhibition that celebrates the rural American South—in the rural South.

With the help of an amazing array of photography folks from near and far, Slow Exposures has grown into a critically-acclaimed photography festival that attracts folks from across the United States. The theme of the show is always “The Rural South”—the contemporary rural South.

The PopUp Tour is one of the premier events during Slow Exposures weekend in Pike County, Georgia. Six to eight exhibits – solo or group – will be staged in nontraditional venues in-and-around the Courthouse Square in Zebulon.

It all happens in the rural countryside of west central Georgia–but only an hour away from Atlanta. SlowExposures will present three days of amazing photography–all displayed in historic, late-19th century buildings throughout Pike County. Our 2024 dates are September 20th-22nd.

The 2025 Schedule of Events will be released in late summer 2025

We are pleased to welcome the return of Nashville’s Jerry Atnip as our 2024 PopUp Juror. He is celebrated for his photography, his enthusiastic support for up-and-coming and established photographers, and his long-time support for SlowExposures. The PopUp Tour will be open for visitors from Friday to Sunday afternoon (September 20-22).
