2017年9月3日 · The Scamp has a much larger, longer and more comfortable cockpit (even without the foot well installed). The Scamp offers a ton more storage (enough to voyage for extended periods), the P15 was much more limited. The Scamp is recoverable from a capsize (I never capsized my P15, but I'm not confident I could have recovered her).

Aside from the problem with the nesting plan, the support from Small Craft Advisor, the folks on the SCAMP forum and from the designer, John Welsford, has been truly outstanding.

2015年8月27日 · The SCAMP cockpit is actually more comfortable than my CY but keep in mind that we sit on the side decks to stretch out our legs. Some guys have installed footwells in their SCAMPs for that. Gabrielle also has an inboard motor well as my motor is a 4HP and didn't want to tend to it hanging over the stern.

2013年12月6日 · But first the premise for my comments below: SCAMP was designed as a day sailor/near shore beach cruiser not really suited for open water. I believe some daysailing boats should not be converted for more ambitious sailing away from shore. A few others can be successfully converted. SCAMP is a boat with possibilities if thoughtfully approached.

2018年7月30日 · The seat height is about 240mm, so it is good to have your legs free to stretch them. In case you decide to go with a footwell, the sitting height is more comfortable, but all crew is to be arranged around the footwell in this case. A scamp is not a ferry... Sailing scamp is not a big deal, so any kid able to sail with a jolly-boat can do.

After checking the message board at small craft advisor, I found the threads in question are dated May 17,2013 and Jul.5,2013 the lowest cost build (done in the Phillipines) appears to be $1500 the most expensive one as of July 2013 was $23,000.

2011年3月5日 · The recent interest in John Welsford’s SCAMP design has me a bit perplexed. When I first saw pictures of SCAMP reefed down and thrashing through cold whitecaps I was immediately taken with what a neat little boat she is. She looks like the perfect answer for anyone wanting a “cute” small sailboat to take them adventuring near home.
