On the drive west to Cornwall, stop at Wells, Glastonbury, Tintagel. Returning east, linger in Counties Devon and Dorset, seeing Restormel Castle, Corfe Castle, Maidenhead Castle (earthwork one).

2011年8月30日 · Places we enjoyed visiting were Tintagel Castle, Restormel Castle, St. Ives, Zennor, Men-en-Tol, Merry Maidens Stone Circle, Mousehole, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Dozmary Pool, and poking around in the little villages near the sea..... 2009年2月26日 · Some other suggestions: Men-en-Tol, Zennor, Restormel Castle, the Merry Maidens Stone Circle, Mousehole. Two hotels that are right on the cliffs above the ocean yet aren't super expensive are Housel Bay on the Lizard and the Headlands Hotel near Tintagel.

2019年5月18日 · In Fowey we did the Hall Walk, adding a loop out on the SWCP, walked the SWCP to Polkerris and back on The Saints Way (long day, but worth it), and walked a loop around Lostwithiel to Restormel Castle. We also kayaked up to Golant, so much fun to be on the River. You will love Fowey. Have a great time!

2009年8月31日 · Places to visit: neolithic sites in Penwith (Men-en-Tol and the Merry Maidens, plus others), Zennor, Mousehole, Tintagel, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Dartmoor and Jamaica Inn, Dozmary Pool, Restormel Castle, and many charming villages tucked into coves. I would avoid the larger cities--too much traffic, too little atmosphere.

2017年11月10日 · Down on the southern coast is St. Michael's Mount. It was fun to walk across the causeway when the tide was out and the castle-home was fascinating! Restormel Castle (an English Heritage site) was our favorite ruins. It's quite difficult to find and the staff member on site said they want it that way to keep the crowds away.

2025年1月31日 · Pluses for Windsor: I have seen many stately homes in England, and some of the rooms in Windsor Castle take my breath away. I am amused by Queen Mary's Dolls House. And I am deeply moved by St. George's Chapel. Pluses for Hampton Court: I visited it in June 2023 for the first time in 40 years and enjoyed it very much, especially the gardens.
