Word knows how to do it that is why when you paste it there it does not show quotes. If you want it without quotes, edit the cell, select all and copy the text. Why is Excel adding quotes when, after copying a cell content, I paste it into a search field. The cells contain titles of research articles, and the quotes added surreptitiously make it difficult to search - need to remove them. Has something to do with line breaks in the stored cell content, but no one wants this response from the Excel system.

Came across this issue where I have to paste lots of text from Notepad files into Word. Apostrophe and quotation marks are pasted into Word as they appear in Notepad and not in the format I've chosen in Word (straight lines instead of curved). I tinkered with AutoFormat options, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks.

An increase in complexity for no gain. I'd like to know the rationale for this.
