2021年11月18日 · Short answer, there is no restriction regarding lower-scale MPCs with an enhanced midplane chassis. Basically the midplane is just PCB making RE, SCB's and MPC able to communicate. The enhanced versions supports higher data throughputs but is the same logic so it more depends on the MPCs and fabric cards in regards to compatibility.

First, there is not really a midplane that is impacting the performance of the MX240. You have direct connections between each of the DPCs (actually it is per PFE on each of them) and each of the SCBs, which are implementing the switch fabric. Today, the total throughput of the device is limited by the capacity on the DPCs.

Mind you, the person I've been talking too has stated that he thinks the reason why he had to replace so many components was partly his fault, because he believes he had a faulty controller.
