According to a recent report published by the Ministry of Defense and a study by the National Police of Colombia for 2023, Medellín is ranked 19th among the 20 most dangerous cities in the country, with an average of 12.9 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.

Take a look at official statistics - there were about 25k robberies in the city of Medellin in 2020 alone and the numbers have gone up since. Personally, I lived there for ~11 months and saw 3 armed robberies (with pistols each time).
