Over his thirty years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 252-213-1. During his career he was a head coach for twenty seasons, first with the Cleveland Browns. He led the Browns for four seasons, compiling a record of 40-23-0. He resigned from the Browns on Wednesday, December 28, 1988.

Unfortunately, Marty Schottenheimer passed away in February of 2021. In his life, he left a legacy in the NFL. After his departure it took the Cleveland Browns over thirty years to recover from that awful decision of letting him leave. Here we are in the summer of 2024.
