Book recommendations for linear algebra [duplicate]
Some free sources well worth their salt (more so, I think, than many existing books): Jim Hefferon, Linear Algebra. This is a well-known open-source textbook and has lots of good exercises. Isaiah Lankham, Bruno Nachtergaele, Anne Schilling, Linear Algebra - As an Introduction to Abstract Mathematics. This one is less comprehensive and detailed ...
Very good linear algebra book. - Mathematics Stack Exchange
2014年5月22日 · If you are new to linear algebra, then you should use "Introduction to Linear Algebra" by Gilbert Strang. In case you possess some knowledge of LA, then you can use "Matrix Theory and Linear Algebra" by I.N. Herstein. There are many books on pure linear algebra and computational linear algebra; you can choose as per your requirement and interest.
Linear Programming Books - Mathematics Stack Exchange
This is more a books of application ( with proofs ) full of algorithms using linear and integer programming, duality, also unimodularity, Chvatal-Gomory cuts and solving TSP with various methods. Both books are complementary ;) I recommend starting with first one and read few chapters of Combinatorial Optimization to get another look at things.
High-level linear algebra book - Mathematics Stack Exchange
2019年9月12日 · It is also common for graduate level linear algebra to be incorporated into the 2-3 semester graduate algebra sequence. For example, when I was a student two of the more widely used algebra texts were Lang's Algebra and Hungerford's Algebra, and each contains a substantial amount of linear algebra. Listed below are a couple of "stand-alone ...

2020年5月10日 · Linear Algebra and its Applications by Gilbert Strang is a very popular text. This takes linear algebra from mostly an engineering and applications perspective. Linear Algebra Done Right by Sheldon Axler is a great abstract/proof-based approach to the subject. This is a great book for learning basic proof methods in linear algebra and it ...
A rigorous book on a First Course in linear algebra
2013年7月29日 · Strang's other book Introduction to Linear Algebra was mentioned above, but I think you should go right to the more serious book. I really can't overstate how good Linear Algebra and Its Applications is. It teaches you to think about linear algebra the right way. As you go on, you may need other books, but Strang should take you a long, long way.
What are the best texts on undergraduate linear algebra?
The textbooks I referred to in this study were Larson's Elementary Linear Algebra and Anton's Elementary Linear Algebra. I want to know basically what the next step is. I suppose a more advanced course in linear algebra or a move into abstract algebra would be logical, can anybody recommend any textbooks?
reference request - Book Recommendations for Linear Algebra …
2013年12月18日 · $\begingroup$ @Ike : you have to be careful because many, maybe even most, linear algebra books are aimed at engineering students, defer proofs until fairly late in the book, and I have seem some popular books by highly regarded authors that contain imprecise and/or poorly worded definitions and terminology, or use difficult proofs to prove things that …
Books on linear algebra more focused towards matrices and …
2020年6月8日 · $\begingroup$ A good linear algebra book will usually teach you to think more in terms of linear and bilinear mappings than in terms of matrices. But it will also help you form a sort of mental dictionary that allows you to translate problems about mappings into problems about matrices, and vice versa, so that you can pass back and forth and ...
book recommendation - Where to start learning Linear Algebra ...
You are right: Linear Algebra is not just the "best" place to start. It's THE place to start. Among all the books cited in Wikipedia - Linear Algebra, I would recommend: Strang, Gilbert, Linear Algebra and Its Applications (4th ed.) Strang's book has at least two reasons for being recommended. First, it's extremely easy and short.
