2024年7月11日 · Juxtacortical chondromas, also known as periosteal chondromas, are rare benign chondral tumors that arise from the periosteum of tubular bones. They are thought to account for ~2% of benign bone tumors.

Periosteal chondromas are also known as cortical chondromas, juxtacortical chondromas, pericortical chondromas or eccentric chondromas. Although they occur in people of all ages, the majority of these tumors occur in those younger than 30 years of age.

Juxta-cortical chondroma is a rare cartilaginous tumor originating from the periosteum. On conventional radiography, the lesion typically causes saucerization of the adjacent cortex with well-delineated sclerotic margins.

Juxtacortical chondroma (synonym: periosteal chondroma) is a rare benign surface lesion composed of cartilage. It is similar in appearance and location to periosteal osteosarcoma. The potential for confusion with periosteal and even parosteal osteosarcoma mandates a thorough investigation and biopsy of these lesions.
