When Gwladys Probert, a world renowned mezzo-soprano, is shot by a sniper at Oxford, Morse, one of her biggest fans, sees a link with an earlier murder of a freelance journalist.

Inspector Morse is a British television crime drama, starring John Thaw and Kevin Whately, for which eight series were broadcast between 1987 and 2000, totalling thirty-three episodes. Although the last five episodes were each broadcast a year apart (two years before the final episode), when released on DVD, they were billed as Series Eight.

A devoted father of a brain damaged girl, a serial rapist and Satanist on the loose and the death of a journalist investigating a wealthy businessman are at the centre of these three cases facing Morse (John Thaw) and Lewis (Kevin Whately).
