That time has come to an end. The Red Chimera Group, a team of modders, coders, artists, and other contributors drawn from the Infinity Engine community, is re-building Icewind Dale II with nothing more than WeiDU code and hex editing to streamline IWD2's gameplay, rebalance the class system, and introduce new content.

Besides, I simply love the Dale setting, also thanks to the superb soundtrack by Inon Zur. Story- and exploration- wise, BG1 wins for me.

Both KM and WoTR are so clearly inspired by BG series and everything else that came out of the Infinity Engine. While the Pillars of Eternity games were presented as nostalgia tributes to the Infinity Engine games, these feel much closer to those games, both for good and bad, and a large part of that is the Pathfinder system. A 'framework' is essentially an Unreal project with pre-created assets, characters and objects for people to use with minimal need for coding (assuming someone doesn't want to make something custom).

2020年6月24日 · I voted for the 01-12 PS2 engine, mainly for the refinements brought in the later years. The NCAA Football games, especially around 06-09 had such a fun engine and I felt so in control. Madden mostly had that engine, without the ability to kind of turn on a dime upfield, which NCAA had and it felt amazing.

2021年3月5日 · Those games are much closer to the old Infinity Engine games than DOS:2. I always thought the IE games suffered because of their combat. Real-Time with pause never really clicked with me. D&D combat is turn-based so in that respect, I always thought the older SSI "Gold Box" games were better than the infinity engine stuff.

2022年4月20日 · Con: Combat system is pretty wonky, even by Infinity Engine standards. Not super interesting. Icewind Dale Pros: Start from level 1, and pretty quickly increase to mid level. Very well balanced experience all the way through. The fights have somewhat more variation than in BG1, so you'll learn a lot.
