The RB-79 Ball is a mobile pod featured in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and its animated adaptation. The RB-79 Ball was hastily constructed to compensate for the shortage of mobile suits, and was deployed to each unit in the latter half of the One Year War.

2022年2月10日 · Despite their limited firepower and low maneuverability, the EFF deployed this RB-79 Ball as mobile fleet defense units, protecting ships while the GM mobile suits went on the attack. The EFF also produced several variants throughout the war, including the RB-79C , RB-79F , RB-79G , RB-79K , RB-79[M] and RB-79M models.

The RB-79 Ball is probably one of the most popular mobile weapons in the Universal Century timeline, second only to Gundam and Zaku. Designed by Kunio Okawara, the Ball was the only Mobile Pod seen in Gundam for over 26 years (1979~2006).

The RB-79K Ball Type K is a mobile pod featured in the OVA Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. It is piloted by Shiro Amada. The Ball Type K is one of the earliest types produced, and is superior to later mass production types in all aspects, including armor and propellant capacity.
