2024年12月13日 · Brand new to GMRS. I purchased two Baefeng UV-5G Plus radios on Black Friday to use while camping. I was not aware getting the radio programmed and operational was so involved so I appreciate your patience and help with these.

2024年12月31日 · It' obvious, GMRS licensees are solely responsible for their family communications under their call-sign. I never said anything different, because that's not accurate. Of course, rules and regulations on Amateur Radio are more strict, due the fact an Amateur Radio License cannot be shared with others.

2019年12月4日 · GMRS and FRS were lumped together so GMRS radios ended up being seen as bubble pack radios to sell at Walmart, not for more robust communications. Hopefully now that the combo radios are no longer able to be marketed, that means GMRS will finally get some non-bubble pack love.

2024年11月6日 · There was another guy who literally changed his GMRS license several times (at a cost of $35 each time) because he kept getting called out for things. He’d start all over again. I know I can be an insufferable jerk sometimes but I can’t imagine going to that extreme.

Trying to show my boys the inter working of radios so I got licensed and got 3 tidradio td-h3 portables and found a box of old mobiles with about 10 years of dust on them got 3 up and running in our trucks.

2020年4月26日 · Listening to both GMRS and the 2 meter band on my scanner, I can not tell any difference between the efficacy of either. If you already have a good GMRS stetup, the Amateur repeater bands seem redundant. Sadly I am beginning to lose my motivation for the latter. Are the Amateur repeater bands just a somewhat glorified version of GMRS?

2024年12月20日 · It is their machine so they can have their rules. On the HAM side, if some moron wants to critique my radio usage I just finish my transmission and ignore them. I don't use radio, Amateur or GMRS, for meeting random basement dwellers in the darkest hours of the night so I don't really run into those type of repeater people very often.
