2023年7月16日 · The famous Fox Glacier / Te Moeka o Tuawe is a longer and faster moving glacier than neighbouring Franz Josef. The terminal face of Fox Glacier is only five kilometres from the village and the Fox Glacier walk is an easy, family friendly adventure.

The Fox Glacier South Side Walkway/Cycleway follows the south bank of the Fox River through ancient podocarp rainforest. The track heads gently up the valley crossing ancient glacial moraine surfaces, with the forest reflecting the various ages of the glacier moraines which it has colonised.

2018年10月25日 · Get spectacular glacier views along the track and from the viewing area. The track is sometimes closed, so check it's open before starting. How long will it take? This is a 2.6km one-hour return walk. Drive south for 2km from Fox Glacier Weheka township, and turn left immediately before the Fox River bridge.

2024年4月6日 · The Fox Glacier valley walk starts from the Fox Glacier Car Park and is accessible on a wide track up the valley. It travels through a canopy of trees and ancient rainforests along the Fox River’s border, with occasional water views.

Fox Glacier Valley Walk (2.6 km return; easy) Starting at the end of Glacier Access Road on the north side of the Fox River, this short walk gets you up close and personal with Fox Glacier’s terminal face.

This short loop track provides easy cycling and walking along the Fox River. Highlights include two viewing points for Fox Glacier and crossings of glacial moraine surfaces (glacial debris) that reflect the movement of the glacier over time.
