These moulds took quite a bit of expertise to cast a decent pellet...because all the temperatures had to be just right... The finished pellet looked like a miniature bullet...with a driving band to catch the barrel rifling...situated at the base of the body...

We melted a lump of flashing off the barn roof in his mother's saucepan on the Aga. Using a tea spoon wired to a stick as a ladle.

2014年5月10日 · A dome pellet has a smooth transition (close to a straight line for some, like a JSB Exact Heavy pellet) from the head portion to the waist. In a way, air is easier to "bend around" the edge of the head for such a pellet. As a result, it is not pushing as much air out of the way. The umbrella of pushed/compressed air ahead of the pellet is smaller.
