Thoughts on a 20" vs. a 22" Bass Drum for Live Playing?
2020年5月1日 · I have predominantly played a 22" bass drum for the past 20 years or so. (There was about a year or so in there that I played a 20" bass drum.) Recently, mostly due to space issues, I have been playing a 20" bass drum. (This has only been in my individual practice situations.) The 20" bass drum has been a pleasant surprise to me.

20' Bass Drum for Jazz | Drummerworld Forum
2013年6月23日 · I own one 20" x 16" bass drum and one 20" x 14" bass drum and they both sound spectacular, but personally I still prefer the sound of a 22" x18" or a 22" x 16" drum for just about any genre of music. I own a 20" x 16" Ludwig Classic Maple bass drum and I miss the low frequency content of the drum, so I'm also buying a 22" x 16" bass drum to ...
20" vs 22" bass drum - Which is more versatile? - Drummerworld
2022年7月22日 · 20 will be more versatile for tom placement if you mount your toms on the bass, but that can be offset a bit by the tom depth. For example - 20 bass + 10" deep tom will sit the same as a 22 bass with 8" deep tom. I use 20's for ergonomics - it allows me to have my snare at the same height as my toms.
What can I expect from a 20" birch bass drum? enough bottom end?
2016年10月12日 · But I have found that a 20 inch bass drum works great and has plenty of bottom end in SOME venues I play; playing with SOME of the bands I play in. It is good for about 50% of the places I play. However, a 22 inch bass drum works great and has plenty of bottom in ALL venues and with ALL of the bands I play with..
20" or 18" bass drum? | [DFO] Drum Forum
2008年12月31日 · Personally, I disagree with the notion that one size of bass drum is more versatile than another. Any size is as versatile as you choose to make it, based on how you set up and tune the drum. I frequently use 16x12, 18x14, and 20x16 inch bass drums. The 20 gets the least use because it's the least compact, least portable, and heaviest of the three.

2024年2月4日 · Just got a kit with a 20 inch bass. Chinese Remo heads. Really do not care for the BD sound. Looking for head recommendations. I play rock / blues, looking for punchy low end. No “slap” or cracking.
The 20 vs 22 inch bass drum problem | Page 2 | [DFO] Drum Forum
2011年7月23日 · Just like a 22" will never be a 24" bass drum (the mother of all bass drum sizes). A 24" bass drum is a "proper" bass drum size. It has the greatest amount of low end vs punch, IMHO. All of this said, I have known a few really great 20" bass drums over the years and some really lousy 22" bass drums. It really depends on what you need for the gig.
20 vs 22 kick? | Drummerworld Forum
2014年3月11日 · Totally "stock". So... there's that. 20 x 20. [not 18" deep] If you want to use the Geometry for the "perfect" tone a 20-inch diameter would be 20 divided by three, times two, which is 13.3333 inches. o.k., we'll call it 14. The reason WHY the 14-inch depth was THE depth for ALL bass drums goes way way back.
