I'm noticing a common response on forums and in discussion that the cost of repairing a vintage watch outweighs the benefit (unless if you are willing to drop the dough).

This would change the serial numbers and it will not be the grandfathers watch, except for the dial and case. Personally I would source an identical movement and use as a donor. In short I would move parts as needed to get the original watch back in action.

Don't lose the clips. slect the number of links to remove in the same fashion, then slide the two ends back together making sure that the clips are placed correctly and then tap the tabs back in place with your small hamm

The behavior depends on a lot of factors but the combination of hairspring and balance is inherently isochronous just like a pendulum is. Also just like a pendulum it can have escapement errors and other faults that affect the rate in either direction.

2013年1月15日 · Hello, I've got an old women's wrist watch. Wittnauer serial number W09491. 17 jewel. It's a nice one. 14 KT gold. The serial number is on the case. Wittnauer Watch Co. Inc., AXA, 5JH, unadjusted, seventeen jewel, swiss are all on the movement. Still works. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Just wondering when it was manufactured. Thanks.

2015年3月24日 · Nowhere in any of those links did I see a 1970s vintage Longines watch. The links showed me pictures of modern Classique dress model Longines quartz watches, something called an Invicta (sort of resembles a watch), and case back tools. No help there.
