Vincent Matthews is a native of San Francisco. Mr. Matthews completed his Pre K-12 education as a SFUSD student. Following graduation from McAteer, Mr. Matthews earned his BA, teaching credential, and eventually his doctorate in education from San Francisco State University.

He was kicked out and returned home to San Francisco feeling like a broken person, he says. At the urging of his mother, he picked himself up off the couch and started taking classes at City College of San Francisco before transferring to SF State.

Dr. Vincent Matthews is an Assistant Professor in the Educational Administration program at San Francisco State University. He has taught in the program for the previous 3 years. Dr. Matthews served as the superintendent of the San Francisco Unified School District for the past five years retiring July 2022.
