2022年12月26日 · VCR eating tapes hopefully should be an easier fix than an electrical one. My current one thats being repaired has a bad capacitor and transistor, which is completely out of my league. Something could be out of alignment as someone above said. The idler could need replacement. Its all dependent on what parts are used in your VCR.

Open the cover of the VCR (2 side screws and 2 screws at the back), and observe what is happening. In all likelihood the Take Up spool (Right side of the cassette) is Not spinning. It's dirty and making poor contact and the microcontroller in the VCR is getting confused as to what the mechanism is actually doing, and giving it the wrong commands. In this style VCR, the entire mechanism comes out as one unit.

2021年11月1日 · I can get VCRs for $5-$10 at my local goodwills. About 1 In 4 of those won't work, so a working vcr costs me on average $7-$13. I have 3 VCRs hooked up in my house and I usually toss one in the garbage ever year. It's not worth the risk to lose a tape that I may not be able to replace in order to try and save a VCR that I can easily replace.

The spindles then dont turn properly and the vcr ejects the tape without spooling it back up. A fix without replacing the actual idler wheel in getting a small piece of sandpaper (or little sandpaper stick you can get on amazon) and just evenly rubbing it on the rubber idler wheel. This gives it its grippiness back and voila, vcr is runnin.

2021年5月20日 · A "pro" tip: if a VCR is beginning to have trouble rewinding and fast-forwarding, fix it sooner than later: otherwise it may start eating tapes next! Many of the same mechanical parts are involved in rewind or fast forward, specifically the belt, and also an idler tire if used.
