Lotus 1-2-3 is a discontinued spreadsheet program from Lotus Software (later part of IBM). It was the first killer application of the IBM PC, was hugely popular in the 1980s, and significantly contributed to the success of IBM PC-compatibles in the business market. [1]

With its built in graphics, and optimized display, 1-2-3 was often used to gauge IBM PC compatibility. What may not be as widely known are the number of system to which it was ported.

Lotus 1-2-3 was a DOS-based spreadsheet released by Lotus Development Corporation in January 1983. Seeing the success of VisiCalc on the Apple II for business number crunching, Lotus jumped ahead by launching a three-in-one tool that included spreadsheet, charting and basic database functionality (hence the name).

First released in 26 January 1983 for MS-DOS, it was feature rich, as well as high performance compared to its contemporaries, and easily overtook VisiCalc, MultiPlan and SuperCalc.
