But with every angle thoroughly documented, and every crag scaled to exhaustion, the arrival of Haystack Rock is being hailed as the biggest content refresh in years.

The views are really impressive here as you climb, with a horseshoe bend in the river surrounded by more vertical walls ahead of you. The trail forgoes with the switchbacks for a while, traversing up the ridge.

Horses and their riders alike will love to gently horseback ride along the scenic river stretches of Smith Rock State Park. Areas of the Canyon, River, Wolf Tree and Homestead trails where horses are permitted cover a large section of the park. Towering rock spires provide the backdrop to the Crooked River as it carves its way through the canyons.
