2021年4月17日 · Under a dark sky, and in the hands of an experienced observer, a 6" refractor is a surprisingly powerful deep-sky telescope. I have one (APM 152 ED) and in my roughly Bortle 3 sky, I can take it down to around magnitude 15 on stars.

Any opinions on this project would be appreciated. About the only source I have found for an objective lens is the DKD optics 154- 2250mm set offered on EBAY for around $600.

2020年6月30日 · Congrats on your 6 inch refractor! Many happy hours with it! The debris between the lenses is not the cause of seeing irregularities at high magnifications. You will see floaters ( mouches volantes) and other somewhat darker irregularities at high magnification on bright objects like the Moon and Jupiter. The first ones originate from your own eye.

I have a 6" f/8 AP, my 6 inch refractor. Now one of the modern ones, but a mid-80s with standard glass. By today's standard, it would probably be a "semi-apochromat", yet for me it's a keeper.

This refractor is an achromat which normally would not be suitable for photography. Due to it's large focal ratio (f15) and long focal length(2276mm) this scope is a superb planetary performer. This is a photo of Saturn taken with a Celestron Neximager, a webcam-based imaging camera.

2023年8月15日 · Does anyone have experience of using APM LZOS refractors? I am looking to upgrade from my Takahashi FS128 and wondered if anyone had experience of this manufacturer. Alternately, any positive experiences of other manufacturers in this aperture point.
