Unfortunately if you own your modem, Comcast will blame it for the problem every time and wash their hands of the problem. In many cases the fix is (really) to power the cable modem off and back on.

The issue I've seen is the internal RCA connector gets a bit of corrosion and the rf modulator itself probably isn't in great shape after all this time If you really wanted rf, what I would suggest is to do the composite av mod and then use an external composite to rf modulator, like the N64 rf modulator custom wired into the composite signal.

I checked the router and it only said "Modem is offline please check RF Connection". I tried other places in my house to change the RF as well has an older modem I had used in the past.
