Regardless, we are getting close to saturating PCIe 3.0 @ x16 and servers tend to have fancier hardware, so currently it makes sense why they need the full lots.

2020年6月11日 · PCIe 3.0 stuck around for a long time, I wonder where the next sticking point will be. On the regular consumer side, we aren't even making much use of PCIe 4.0's bandwidth, much less what 5 and 6 offer. I don't know a ton about what the PCIe lanes actually do so I'm curious to see how this shakes out.

2020年6月11日 · It's because current PCIe 3.0 is much slower than both HBM2/GDDR6 local video memory (1/40th) and system DDR4 memory (1/4th). PCIe 6.0 improves this bandwidth by almost an order of magnitude - that would be 1/2th to 1/3th of the memory bandwidth of a typical mid-end discrete GPU today.

2010年2月1日 · the difference between pcie 8x and pcie 16x is 1-2% in framerate, in other words, not worth replacing a motherboard for. especially if its pcie2.0 8x, as there wont be any major notable framerate increase. if you google it, you can find the article im thinking about, and this article used a 5870 to test if there was any bottlenecking as well.
