The Trail is a 152-kilometre ride or walk that follows the former Otago Central railway line between Middlemarch and Clyde. The gravelled trail has a gentle gradient of 1:50 making it ideal for recreational cyclists and walkers.

The Otago Central Rail Trail, located in New Zealand's South Island, is a 152km long off-road cycling and walking trail that traverses the dramatic landscapes of the Central Otago and Dunedin regions between Clyde and Middlemarch. It was the first trail in the Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand network, which now includes a total of 23 rides.
