Varying grades of MDF? - LumberJocks Woodworking Forum
2013年1月17日 · Per Loren's suggestion, I visited a commercial plywood dealer here in the DFW area, Central Hardwoods. They offer two qualities of MDF, a "double refined" premium Plum Creek MDF and a standard MDF. The "double refined" Plum Creek MDF is superior to any other MDF from HD or Lowes, even though HD and Lowes advertise their MDF as "premium".
Threaded inserts in MDF? - LumberJocks Woodworking Forum
2024年12月3日 · For reference, the two pieces of MDF have channels routed in them to match the diameter of the tubing. However, the two pieces of MDF will not touch when fastened together. Force wise, the fastening torque I'll need to "clamp" the MDF around the tubing won't need to be significant. Likely just finger tight. Thanks in advance!

2023年3月21日 · Finished "cut to size" doors come off the machine. Likely made from MEDEX or another moisture resistant light to medium weight "MDF" product intended for Kitchens/bathrooms with elevated humidity levels. Typically higher moisture grades do not leave "fuzzy" edges like cheap big box store MDF when using sharp tools.
Appropriate double stick tape to attach hardboard to MDF?
2024年10月8日 · Greetings. I intend to attach a replaceable top layer of 1/8" hardboard over the MDF benchtop I'm assembling. Metal fasteners are not a consideration, and gravity alone won't hold it down tight enough to suit me, so double sided tape is my preferred choice.

T track. - LumberJocks Woodworking Forum
2024年10月12日 · It might help if we knew how the T-track and MDF will be used. I ruled out suggestions such as routing a T-slot (T-track), which won't work in MDF, but may work in other woods, depending on the use. I will repeat my suggestion that the OP use "right size" T-nuts in the back of the MDF, which would allow the OP to reuse the T-track in the future.
What is the Best Blade for Cutting MDF on a Table Saw?
2013年1月21日 · MDF is is very easy to cut but is tough on edge life. The triple chip grind is the most durable, so is a good choice for MDF. If all else is equal, more teeth would leave a smoother cut but will have more resistance….fewer teeth will tend to cut faster with a rougher cut. Somewhere between 30T and 60T should work fine, and even an 80T would work.
Forstner bits - LumberJocks Woodworking Forum
2024年12月27日 · Working with MDF. Top was using the lightly damaged 1/2" bit. Still nice clean holes. Bottom two pics was the 3/4". All through holes had been drilled prior to countersinking with the wood owls. The MDF in the bottom ones actually has an adhesive vinyl I'd applied on the face. Wasn't really sure how clean it'd turn out, but pretty happy with ...
Thinking about getting a shaper origin - LumberJocks …
2024年12月10日 · My little 10W takes 6 passes very slow @ 100% to cut 5mm MDF. If you do consider this route, I suggest you get the most powerful laser available, which for a diode I believe is 40W. If you were doing a lot and could justify the cost, a CO2 laser would be best. Lasers are easily stored, but you would have to address the smoke issue.
