2024年12月8日 · On 22 June 1942, Rommel's Panzer units rolled east. On 23 June, Rommel himself passed the Egyptian border fence, over which the 90th Light Division had already pushed far. Captured documents and decoded English radio messages had shown that Auchinleck's 8th Army was to take up positions at Marsa Matruh. Rommel urged his divisions to hurry.

After 5th Pz's Recce elements established a bridgehead at Le Caillou ( courtesy of a poorly defended wier ) s. of Houx ( opposite Haut-le-Wastia ), 7th Pz. was eventually able to pontoon at Bouvignes, thanks to supporting fire from the north on the west bank.

Hitler sent a message that Rommel should immediatly have them killed but Rommel disobeyed orders, he replied by stating that all Jewish POW's were to be treated the same as other allied POW's. For this i have great erspect for him.

2024年11月8日 · Rommel retreated to a line which forced the british to deploy and then the non motorised units retreated while the mobile units slowed down the british. He could hold no line indefinitely because he did not have the fuel to operate against the outflanking moves so it was retreat or being surrounded. Fuel was what determined everything .

2004年6月6日 · Rommel also had combat units attached as a Protection unit. Interestingly, to keep from drawing tanks away from the always-short-of-tanks Panzer divisions, his Kampfstaffel used captured British tanks. At one point the unit had 12 MkIII Cruisers and 3 Crusaders.

Well the flipside of this, is that with the British would no longer have to support Malta, and thus these supplies would be feed into the 8th Army etc. Everyone thinks that once Rommel reached the Suez the British would simply fold.
