The instructions for the push in connectors I have seen disallow their use with aluminum wire. This makes sense because push in (stab in connections) have always been against code for aluminum wire.

2014年12月1日 · If you look up the receptacle specifications, the push-in is rated for 14 gauge wire. If your circuit breaker is 20 amp, you will be using 12 gauge wire and have to use screw head or straight in mechanical connections.

For example, the push-in are fastest to wire. Other than having to take time to twist the wire end, the two screw options seem basically identical. Okay, it would take significantly more force to pull a wire out of a wrapped connector than a straight one, but I expect we're into impractical pulling force on the wire either way.

2017年9月26日 · Yes. If you choose to use push-in type wire connectors, you can insert 1 to #of_ports wires into them. As mentioned in the comments... Some folks don't trust these push-in devices, because of the failings of their back-stab brethren. These devices are listed, and allowed for use by the National Electrical Code.

Do I have to buy 6-port connectors, 5-port connectors, and 4-port connectors, or is there a safe, permissible, and legal way to just buy a bunch of 6-port connectors and only use the terminals I need (e.g. some kind of rated "plug" that can be inserted into the wiring ports that are unused).

2017年4月13日 · Push-in wiring, sometimes branded "QuickWire", uses holes in the plastic casing, underneath which are sharp spring-loaded cleats that catch and hold the wire when you put it in. To remove them, you take a jeweler's screwdriver or a small pick or probe and push into a square tab nearby, which pushes the cleat away allowing you to withdraw the wire.
