Most of the time the "border thing" is 15 minutes or less. You can look up the rush hour times and avoid them. Cypress is my favorite mountain in the PNW, and it's so accessible from North Vancouver - it's practically in the city. There are tons of snow machines for the early season, lighted night skiing. Good food and a decent bar.
