The second stamp is a type I, clearly lacking the type Ia characteristics of the toga button and toga rope. It can only be 409 or 482, but read onward. 3. 2022年2月3日 · I have run across this 2 cent Washington stamp which I think was sold via a vending machine made by the Schermack Company. It is a type III perforation used from 1908 to 1928. The stamp has no watermark.

So we know first it's a "Washington", and of the first type for the 2 cents (Design A139, which has the "Two Cents" spelled out at the bottom). There are 3 places we can go to "next" to determine what it is.

The imperforate 2¢ type Ia was printed specifically to fill an order by the Schermack Company, who then applied their distinctive oblong perforations to the entire supply. The companies that purchased this stamp fed them through their Schermack stamp affixing machines.
