Reducible supports are associated with higher activity and increased CO formation, but nonreducible supports also facilitate CO formation.
In this study, a more fundamental understanding of the interaction between CO and soot is sought. Two possible mechanisms that could affect the concentration of CO in the presence of soot, namely radiative quenching and competition for oxidizer species, are examined.
