2022年8月13日 · Hey – the standard BMW tow hook goes in there. Any f series tow hook will be too big, so the one in the car won't actually work. A tow hook from any older bmw will work. I used one from my e36 on n55's in the past. Correct. I used one from my E36 also (same as E46 btw) to lift my S55 when I did the turbo's.

2011年3月30日 · Lifting engine without special bracket and trasmission angle? So i'm finally going to swap my I6 engine tomorrow, but it's going to be in my driveway because my mechanic is very busy. I got a few questions. 1) I don't have the special engine tool (cf. picture 1) so how do I avoid the enging slipping and dropping forwards/backwards?

2018年10月1日 · The F25 tow hook is 20mm diameter and won't fit the N20 engine's lifting point. But the E90 tow hook is 16mm and will fit. I guess the E90 uses a 'standard' BMW tow hook and the F25 X3 tow eye is an odd-ball?

2020年7月17日 · Not sure if anyone has noticed, but the F30 towing eye does not fit the N20 engines. Anyone know which one is the correct one? I went to my local breakers yard and tried a few BMW ones and only found this one to be a true fit which I think is from a bmw E46 range, but wanted to confirm before I support my engine on it.

2021年1月3日 · Part of me wonders if the standard/Pittsburg units have enough vertical height to lift the engine a few cm to get to the motor mounts (without dropping subframe). I also remember a youtube video from someone suggesting an older BMW towhook to create more clearance. I believe it was an E39 tow hook.
