2018年2月3日 · I used a slide hammer to remove both the axle and the housing seal. One axle came out easy, the other took a few more whacks. The reversed brake drum trick would have worked though. I have a HF bearing and seal driver kit which worked fine to install the seal in the housing. new bearing and studs installed. With a little extra grease for the seal

I placed a jack under the axle, removed the wheel, and placed a jack stand under the frame near the rear of the vehicle, in front of the rear axle. I also placed a second jack stand under the rear axle to better support the axle and the vehicle itself.

2021年3月26日 · That quote was for seal and bearing replacement and diff service only. This was the cheapest quote in my area after calling/visiting several shops. Toyota was the most expensive @ just south of 1900$ for drivers side seal and bearing replacement and new rear shoes.

2017年7月5日 · So I took my truck into les schwab thinking I was leaking brake fluid out of my rear passenger brake drum. Come to find out it's my rear axle seal. They don't have the press machine to do it properly. So I made some phone calls. Local shop quoted me around $250, stealership quoted $350 and another local shop quoted $1047.40?!?!?!

2011年12月23日 · I went in telling them that the seal was gone and I thought the bearing was toast too. They called back saying it was the axle seal in the rear for sure but the bearing in the rear was fine. The front bearing was toast. So for just the rear it would have been: $200 labor $17.02 parts (seal)-----$217.02+tax to do the rear seal only.

2024年2月12日 · If it's the same as the older ones, there are 2 seal per side. The inner seal is not big deal, pull the axle and replace the seal. HF seal drivers would work. The outer seal, is a total PITA and you will need a press and axle tube adapter to press the wheel bearing out. Most of the shops cut the ABS tune ring, too.

2020年4月9日 · Good to hear I could change the axle seals without pulling the diff, hopefully the pinion seal is not the culprit. I'm ordering new drain and fill plugs that I should get tomorrow and I'll do a fluid change and clean it up. Then I'll keep an eye on it for leaks. I'll probably keep a lookout for a used diff that I can just replace a a later time.
