Robert Gillio, a pulmonary critical-care physician, says smoke inhalation can cause coughing, scratchy throat, burning eyes, shortness of breath, headache, fatigue, and even asthma attacks.
Officials said the other victim suffered smoke inhalation and did not want to go to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
