Hi Ben--They weren't enforcing such bans in Siena when we visited a month ago, but in Rome they are rigidly enforcing the "no-sitting" rules on the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Part of their keep-it-clean campaign I guess...the Seps were gross in past years.

Sorry about the delay in responding - we've been travelling. The hotel promoted the walking tour we did but it is available through the shop in the corner of the piazza. If you are standing looking at the tower it is in the corner diagonally front left. the tours start from outside this shop as well.
