Sad to advise that Stu and the pigs are no longer on the 309 road. the pigs have been rehomed to a sanctuary in Wellington and Stu is no longer there to care for them. Thank you Stu for being the man…KevinL6917的完整评论

Really nice stopping points along the way like the waterfall and kauri tree grove. We had these almost to ourselves (sooo nice after overly touristy areas). Really wanted to see Stu and his pigs, how…Brittney Q的完整评论

This was the most terrifying drive experience that I’ve ever had. We were in a motorhome. I’m shocked that there was no series of warnings at either end of the road for what we were to face. I do rem…Relax29492083387的完整评论
Are dogs allowed at some of the places on the 309 road?

The places we stopped didn't have no dog signs or shoe cleaning on the tracks, but it may depend on where you stop. I wouldn't recommend taking your dog out around the pigs as they roam free on each side of the road and even across it and they are his pets and I think he has dogs too. I am travelling with my family to NZ in January and am really looking forward to visiting Stu's Wild Pig Farm. I heard that road 309 is gravel and have just booked a hire car which states it does not insure on unsealed roads. If travelling from Coromandel side of 309, would I encounter much gravel road just going to the pig farm and back?

Yes it’s is gravel road but it is a awesome well worth the risk the pigs are beautiful scenery is the best.
No price, just an alternate lifestyle who runs a large group of kuni kuni pigs. About 2-3 hrs from Tokoroa. You need to go to the Coromandel area as a destination, great place
